July 18, River Boyne 2010 Paddlefest 2010 24th to 26th September 2010 Rathdrum Co. Wicklow. This is the annual weekend away for juniors from all over the country. It is a vital weekend of training and fun which helps in the development of the juniors as all round paddlers. Each participant will get to experience the disciplines of Marathon/Sprint, Polo, WWR, Slalom, Open Boating and a variety of other skill sets. The Benefits from each of these disciplines become very apparent and the paddler can bring that skill back to their chosen area or better still take up that new discipline. Coaching and instruction will be provided by some of Olympic Team members, their coaches and other National Team members. Participants must be aged between 8 and 18 years old and be of ICU Level 2 skills (They don’t need to be certified, just at that level. A lot of the material and coaching will be lost if they are not at this level). Weather permitting, it is hoped that all participants will re-sit the level 2 skills award test on Saturday evening. Our aim is to set a record for the largest level 2 skills assessment ever to be held. The Venue is Hidden Valley Campsite in Rathdrum Co. Wicklow and the event runs from Fri evening of the 24th till Sunday the 26th of September 2010. Cost for the weekend is €40, which includes lunch on Saturday and Sunday but does not include Accommodation, breakfast or Evening Meals. Each participant will receive a Paddlefest Bag filled with Goodies along with a participation certificate. To arrange accommodation, please contact Hidden Valley Directly and mention the Paddlefest weekend. (There is a discounted rate for the weekend). To understand what paddlefest is about, please read the following. Paddlefest 2010 June 27, 2010 Grand Canal Tullamore
TuCC hosted the Tullamore and Rahan Scouts on a fun long distance paddle and an overnight camp. Fair play to Neil who did a top job organising the whole thing along with Cathal, Colm and Ryan. April 18, 2010 Lough Ennel Becky Mason and her husband Reid McLachlan travelled to Ireland for the weekend to teach us their Canadian style of paddling. We camped at Lilliput and Becky and Reid gave lessons on Lough Ennell. During the slide show Saturday evening they shared stories of their lives in Canada, their love of canoeing and wilderness trips. A fun trip on the Inny on Sunday to round off a great weekend. Big thanks to Becky and Reid for making an eventful journey to get here despite all flights being grounded! March 28, 2010 Inny By Bernard Klee. The Inny was medium low and the green wave was low as well but still great fun, it kept changing from a wave to a stopper. The beginners all did all great at the double drop and the green wave. Some of us ran the river twice it was that good. Tilley got a new boat after the first run which he tried out at the second run of the river. We all had great fun and were very tired afterwards. Thanks to all who helped out to make it a great day. More photos on the gallery March 14, 2010 Lower Shannon We had an action packed day on the Shannon even though the water was low. Tilley (TM) did a great job with teaching, and Daire was a shining light on the waves. We had great fun :-) A lovely photo of Colm below. More photos on the gallery
February 28, 2010 10:00 Club Trip Inny A great day was had! You know the saying? "neither snow nor hail will stop us from paddling" That was our day, but also lots of sunshine. Inny was medium low, current fast. Green wave was fast. As always the standard was high, and Sarah & Stephen did great. James and me were both trying out new boats (in my case after 2 months hiatus and i suffered!). Photos in the gallery. Thanks Tilley (TM) and Mel.
